After attending ballet classes and performing for 12 years, I trained in martial arts before falling in love with Ashtanga yoga, when I started attending classes with Granville Cousins in Manchester in 2002. I continued to practise with him over the next two years and developed a deep understanding and love for this unique and challenging style of yoga.
On leaving the UK to work abroad for several years, I took the opportunity to practise many different styles of yoga along with Pilates and contemporary dance. Despite all these amazing experiences, I always found myself returning to my favourite style of Ashtanga. Moving to East Grinstead, where I am currently based, I was inspired by Kirsten Germann and Scott Johnson to complete a 200 hour teacher training course with world renowned Ashtanga yoga teachers, John Scott and Lucy Crawford.
Since then I have continued my Ashtanga yoga studies by attending a John Scott Yoga TT CPD week training. I have also attended training courses with Greg Nardi, Kia Naddermier, David Keil and many other inspiring and highly respected teachers.
Over the past year, I have progressed my yoga practice and knowledge further by attending anatomy courses with Doctor Yogi, a five-day intensive training in Yoga for Sports with Jim Harrington, a seven-day silent meditation retreat with Burgs and more recently a 50 hour TT in Budokon Yoga. I have also reconnected with my dance background and I am currently exploring ways to use this to enhance and develop both my own personal practice and professional teaching.
