I have been practicing Iyengar yoga since 2006, just after the birth of my first child and have not felt like stopping since! Yoga has helped me through stressful periods in my life and makes me more balanced during the many happy times. Physically and spiritually Iyengar yoga is my way to achieve a focus, clarity and health in life that I am hoping to pass on to others. I am truly grateful for the gift of yoga which I received through the teachings of BKS Iyengar and by studying with my senior teachers from the UK and India. I am regularly attending my own yoga class as well as longer workshops and annual Iyengar yoga conventions. I am a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher (Introductory II, 2014) and am teaching classes in London and West Sussex where I live with my husband and children.

Iyengar yoga classes generally start with simple asanas or poses and gradually move towards more advanced asanas ending with a period of relaxation, sometimes incorporating pranayama breathing techniques. No Iyengar yoga class is ever the same as each class focuses on a particular area of asana practice and is built around the needs of the students attending the class. Asanas include forward bends, backbends, twists, inversions and restorative poses and can be adapted to so each student experiences the benefits of the practice.

Iyengar yoga classes can be hard work as poses involve intense stretching; however, you will leave the class feeling lighter and calmer. The immediate benefits of Iyengar yoga are greater flexibility and strength and better physical health. As you continue with your practice and develop your own home practice alongside, psychological and spiritual benefits will appear.

This is a general level yoga class suitable for beginners and more experienced students. Classes run in blocks during term time- £10 if paid for a block in advance or £12 drop- in. Concessions available, please contact me.
